METRC Software for Alabama Medical Cannabis Cultivators

Medical Cannabis · Metrc Integrated

Alabama's medical cannabis program is now selling to patients, and every plant behind those sales is tracked in Metrc. Mustashio gives Alabama cultivators one cultivation ERP that syncs with Metrc, so compliance reporting runs in the background while your team grows.

From the Compassion Act to Metrc: Alabama's Road to Launch

Alabama took longer than almost any state to open its medical market. The tracking system was settled early.

2021

Alabama legalizes medical cannabis under the Compassion Act (SB 46) and creates the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC) to license and oversee the program.

2022

After a competitive RFP, the AMCC awards Metrc the seed-to-sale tracking contract, giving Alabama its first-ever track-and-trace program.

2023–2025

License rounds are voided, challenged in court and re-awarded. By late 2025 the commission has issued licenses across cultivator, processor, transporter and dispensary categories.

2026

The patient registry opens and licensed dispensaries begin medical cannabis sales, putting the Metrc supply chain to work.

A New Market Rewards Clean Metrc Data From the First Plant

Alabama's program is restrictive and tightly managed. Cultivators sell or transfer cannabis to licensed processors, processors supply dispensaries, and an integrated facility license can cultivate, process, transport and dispense under one roof. Every one of those handoffs is recorded in Metrc.

Because Alabama had no track-and-trace system before this program, there are no legacy habits to carry over, and no room for sloppy setup. Plant counts, tag assignments and harvest weights entered correctly in the first cycle are the records your inspector, your processor and your patients' products all depend on.

Mustashio keeps that record in one place. You log cultivation activity once, and the Core + METRC plan syncs plants, packages and inventory with Metrc through the API, with RFID tag and plant-tag reconciliation built in.

Alabama License Categories and Where Mustashio Fits

Authorizes cultivation and the sale or transfer of cannabis to a processor. This is Mustashio's core fit: plant lifecycle, harvest tracking, inventory, tasks and team planning, with Metrc sync on top.

Covers cultivation, processing, transport and dispensing under one license. Mustashio supports the cultivation side of an integrated facility and keeps its plant and inventory data aligned with Metrc.

These are the licensees your harvest moves to and from. Mustashio isn't built for their day-to-day operations, but your Metrc transfer records have to match theirs, which is why accurate cultivation data matters upstream.

Alabama METRC Software FAQs

Does Alabama use Metrc?

Yes. The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission contracted Metrc as the seed-to-sale tracking system for the state's medical cannabis program, so licensed cultivators should plan to track every plant and package in Metrc.

Is Alabama's program medical only?

Yes. Alabama has a medical cannabis program only, and recreational cannabis remains illegal. Patients must register with the AMCC and receive a recommendation from a certified physician.

Which Alabama licenses can use Mustashio?

Mustashio is built for licensed commercial cultivation, which means Alabama cultivator licensees and the cultivation side of integrated facilities.

Does Mustashio integrate with Metrc in Alabama?

Yes. Core + METRC syncs plant, package and inventory data with Metrc through its API, so you aren't re-entering data in the state portal.

How much does it cost?

Core + METRC is $500 per month with unlimited users, no square footage caps, no long-term contracts and a 90-day full harvest trial.

Where do I find Alabama's official Metrc resources?

Start with the AMCC's cannabis business pages and Metrc's Alabama partner page for training, tag ordering and bulletins. Program rules have changed more than once, so always confirm current requirements with the commission.
